Quel che è avvenuto a Bolzaneto nel 2001 è la violazione simultanea e flagrante di tre importanti trattati internazionali che l´Italia aveva contribuito ad elaborare e si era solennemente impegnata a rispettare: la Convenzione europea dei diritti dell´uomo del 1950, il Patto dell´Onu sui diritti civili e politici del 1966, e la Convenzione dell´Onu contro la tortura del 1984. A Bolzaneto sono stati inflitti trattamenti disumani e degradanti ma, in più casi, anche vere e proprie torture.
