A Cult Grows in Brooklyn
-- August 15, 2008 @ 11:42 pm

The Brooklyn Paper published an article today interviewing the filmmakers behind “Cult of Sincerity”, a straight-to-youtube feature documenting the lives of a bunch of 20somethings living it out in Williamsburg. In what not only marks the end of the straight-to-DVD route, “Cult of Sincerity” is also trying a different strategy to make back some bills.

The film is totally free, you can view it on youtube, or, catch it on Channel 13 on August 23rd. Don’t have cable or internet? Well, It’s screening at Stain Bar that night as well, where “important scenes in the film were shot”. All the filmmakers ask of you is that you go to aimestreet.com/cultofsincerity and sign up…they get 2 bucks a pop for that and you get free music.

Here’s the trailer, and if looks like it’ll keep your boat afloat go watch the full feature on YouTube.

Read the full article at the Brooklyn Paper, and go watch the film on youtube.

There are more semicolons in the New York Review of Books personals than balls in a gay bar.

US State Dept. Speaks Out on BoyGeorgeGate
-- June 25, 2008 @ 11:34 am

The US State Department was forced to address a hot topic yesterday during a press briefing about Iran, Afghanistan and Albania when a hard hitting question was spouted about…Boy George? Spokesman Tom Casey nearly spit out his drink when asked about the singer being denied a visa. After regaining his composure he stated, “I’d simply note that there often are difficulties for individuals who either are currently subject to criminal charges or otherwise may have criminal records.” When the reporter noted it was tragic, Casey countered with a knowing, “Do you really want to hurt him?” Then it was back to business. Watch the video here.

Tomatoes are currently spreading salmonella across the United States. In 1981, the culprit in a smaller outbreak was marijuana. Hey High Times, dude,

What’s Her Game?
-- June 12, 2008 @ 9:13 am

070112_hillary_vmed_7awidec.jpg

We personally think Hillary’s reasons for refusing to concede are monetary in nature. She wants the Obama campaign to give her money to pay off her supposed debts. [Even after lending her campaign $5 mil, the Clintons are still loaded]. Still, The Guardian makes a compelling argument about her intentions.

Once again, it’s all about Hillary Clinton, who delivered the most abrasive, self-absorbed, selfish, delusional, emasculating and extortionate political speech I’ve heard in a long time. And I’ve left out some adjectives, just to be polite…. What’s her game? It’s this, I think. It’s not merely to be vice president. Although apparently it is that. I take it she and Bill have decided that being Obama’s vice-president for eight years is the most plausible path to the presidency. But she did not on Tuesday night merely try to make a case for herself as a good vice-presidential candidate. She held a rhetorical knife to Obama’s throat and said, in not so many words: I’m still calling some shots, buddy. You offer me the vice-presidency, or I walk away. But she has also forced Obama into a situation whereby if he chooses her now, he looks weak. So that’s the choice she is hoping to impose on the nominee: don’t choose me, and Bill and I will subtly work to see that you lose; choose me, and look like a weakling who can’t lead the party without the Clintons after all. Now that’s putting the interests of the party first, isn’t it?

Obama’s Support Growing Among Women
-- June 12, 2008 @ 9:11 am

Sorry media, Harriet Christian is not representative of the typical female voter. The overhyped “women and former Clinton supporters won’t vote for him” rant is a media-created non-story propelled by a few overzealous Hillaryites. Here’s the proof: [via Rumproast]
